We’re searching for an enthusiastic, inquisitive, and organised IT apprentice to provide effective ICT support to team members and customers. This apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to develop professional and technical skills in a scaling business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the IT function for the future whilst also developing their IT and workplace skills. You will empower the team to do their jobs to the best of their ability by supporting them with their IT needs.
What will I learn?
- Assist the IT Technician in the day to day running of the computer network
- Support your teammates to work remotely, as well as maintaining and monitoring the network infrastructure in our two offices.
- Maintain network security and ensure the team is adhering to cyber security policy.
- Configuring Windows machines, giving IT tutorials to new staff members and providing first class service to internal and external customers.
- To play a key role in supporting organisational learning, through the development of a knowledge base of user guides, FAQs, and other learning resources
- Setting up user accounts, implementing password changes, and resolving work area problems (this includes detecting illegal access, lost passwords etc)
- Manage server backups
- Build new workstations
- Assist IT related projects as required
- Other duties as directed by IT Technician as relevant to the apprenticeship
What qualification or qualities are required?
The successful apprentice will have a keen interest in IT, natural problem solver and will be committed to the job along with the day-to-day responsibilities. The successful candidate should also have the following:
Familiarity / knowledge of both Google Workspace Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of cyber security theory
Confidence – you should be resilient and able to think independently
Strong interpersonal skills – confidence in communicating with customers both verbally and inwriting
A “can-do” attitude
Ability to travel including, working away from home on occasion
Excellent customer service skills, good telephone and email communication
Strong at working within a team alongside having problem solving skills with a natural flair for
troubleshooting
Keen to learn all about IT and share existing knowledge helping other learn
Patient and understanding of teammates situations and varying levels of knowledge of IT
Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
Passion for continuous improvement
